The 11-Man Ballot World Title Match will be held
July 3rd thru 6th 2008 (Thursday
thru Sunday)
in Albemarle, North Carolina. Same Location as the 11-Man
National Tourney and our Carolina Open. Albemarle Mayor, Whit Whitley will
be there to welcome players at the opening ceremony and the Stanly News & Press
will report event.
Alex Moiseyev will challenge the 2008 11-Man U.S. National Tournament Champion Tim Laverty for the vacant world title. Tentative plans include a 16-game match - 4 day tournament - Thursday thru Sunday. 2 games per round, 2 rounds per day or 4 games per day at a time limit of 2 hours each. Clock with 30 Moves per hour and the 40 moves rule count to improve endgame applied. In case of tie score, Tim will gets the title. All parties agree that the un-annotated recorded games from this 11-Man World Champion will be regarded as public property. The fully annotated games by both GMs, Alex Moiseyev and Tim Laverty will be property of ACF and published in a commemorative booklet available at their book store. All contributors and tournament donators to this wonderful event will receive a personal copy of this limited edition booklet. (40 copies)
WCDF and ACF will recognize the event as a sanctioned World Title
Match upon completion of a players contract between Moiseyev and Laverty, for
the purpose of replacing the vacancy created by Elbert Lowder's death in
12/14/2006.
Match will be held in Albemarle, North Carolina the hometown of Elbert Lowder
and the 11-Man Ballot World Champion from 1987 until his death in 2006.
Hopefully we can keep this Championship in North Carolina. JR Smith will
be match referee.
